KRS ONE is a significant figure in the Hip-Hop community and is often credited by critics and other Hip-Hop artists as epitomizing the "essence" of an emcee. It is no surprise then, that KRS-ONE decided it would make the most sense to combine forces with Buckshot, of Black Moon and record a new album on Duck Down Records. Buckshot shares similar philosophies as KRS-ONE, one of which is the notion of the "Stop the Violence Movement," which KRS-ONE is actively involved with.
KRS-ONE turned to Dru Ha and Buckshot (co-owners of Duck Down Records) to bring a certain sound and production to this upcoming project, a request that Duck Down Records Co-President Dru Ha was honored to fulfill "To say we are honored and humbled would be an understatement. Buck and I have known KRS since our early days in the game, back when we were recording at D&D Studios and he directly influenced the name of the label with his song "Duck Down" (sucka Mc’s Duck). He was also instrumental in one of Buck’s first and biggest records as Da Beatminerz flipped the "How Many MC’s" vocal sample from KRS. But with the nostalgic feelings of KRS being one of my favorite MC’s growing up to the side, it’s KRS’s continued relevance of today that’s most exciting. KRS has a message in his lyrics, a gladiator performer who reps the culture and posses all the qualities that an MC should embody : Meaningful lyrics, mastery of the flow, intense creativity and a ferocious live show. I know how much respect Buck has for KRS, so I can only imagine how this will elevate his game. It’s Old School to those that don’t keep up with the current works and movements but to me, I would call it Now School."
Three tracks have already been recorded and the chemistry between the two artists is very natural. Buckshot described the work as "CONFLOSATION, even when KRS ONE is flowing he’s having a conversation with his audience. This collaboration with KRS-ONE is going to be an album full of Hip-Hop conversation, ranging from New World Order, to socially conscious topics such as unemployment, poverty, and politics. At the same time, we will speak to the streets, as that is what I’m known to do. It’s a dream to be able to work with KRS-ONE. Before I even began rapping that is who I checked for. I kept the "Blue Print" album on me at all times. That is all I listened to for an entire summer."

KRS-One & DJ Revolution Sign To Duck Down
Duck Down Records has made a big acquisition. The label has added legendary rapper KRS One to the roster. DJ Revolution has also been added to the roster, which is already prepping the releases of new projects.

Buckshot, the other co-owner of Duck Down, is collaborating with KRS on an entire album. With three songs done, Buckshot explained just why this chemistry works.

Duck Down is also prepping the release of Buckshot and 9th Wonder's The Formula, set to hit stores April 15th.
DJ Revolution is also readying the release of his album, King of the Decks, set to hit shelves this year. That album will feature Dilated Peoples, Bishop Lamont, KRS, Crooked I, The Alchemist, Tash, Defari, Buckshot, Guilty Simpson, Kidz in the Hall, Sean Price and a host of other performers.
Stones Throw Vs Duck Down?
This year, two indie labels will join forces at SXSW in order to showcase the talent they both have. At this March 12 event, set to be sponsored by V-Tech, Stones Throw and Duck Down will have what is being labeled Stones Throw Vs Duck Down.
Buckshot, co-owner of Duck Down Records spoke on the matter via statement.
"We are excited to partner up with Stones Throw Records to present the Soundclash. Stones Throw and Duck Down are both highly respected brands in the Independent rap game and we understand that there is power in numbers. On March 12th we'll be providing a free show to the public and it's a way to give back to the rap community who continues to support our movements and our projects."

HHDX News Bits (Nicolay & Kay And 9th & Buckshot)
In a campaign to promote the new album TIME:LINE, Nicolay & Kay are releasing a four-part video guide to the disc.
The videos have the Houston emcee breaking down the concepts of each song on the album at his home studio and various landmarks throughout the city. Video One [click here] has him expanding on "TIME:LINE", "The Blizzard" and "The Lights,” while Video Two [click here] talks about “Through The Wind", "What We Live" and" I’ve Seen Rivers." The second video also gives a preview of the song "Tight Eyes." The latter half of the video guide is coming closer to the album’s release, which is on February 12th.
Nicolay is mostly known for his work as half of Foreign Exchange, his group with Phonte Coleman of Little Brother. The duo released Connected in 2005, after famously recording the entire disc via Internet, with Phonte living in North Carolina and Nicolay living overseas in the Netherlands. The producer later moved to North Carolina himself, and has since produced for the likes of Masta Ace, Strange Fruit Project and Zion I, while remixing tracks for Bob James, Roy Ayers and others. Kay is part of a group called The Foundation.
After establishing their Chemistry in 2005, 9th Wonder and Buckshot are set to release another full-length collaborative LP in the next couple months.
The Formula, their second album as a duo, is set for an April 15, 2008 release date. The first single, “Go All Out,” has a guest spot from frequent Justus League collaborator Carlitta Durand, and the subsequent music video will feature Charlie Murphy in a series of skits with Buckshot.
“Every song is dealing with a topic. Each track specifically has a formula, hence where the title of the album came from,” Buckshot says. “…I’ve always had a certain sound within hip-hop and 9th Wonder helps bring out my unique style. We share a comfort level that allows me to be at ease when it comes to recording and that natural sound translates into great music."
This release date announcement comes at a time when each of the artists are breathing new life into their careers.
While 2007 saw 9th Wonder leave the group Little Brother, it also finally saw the oft-delayed release of his album, Dream Merchant Vol. 2. This year, he has produced Erykah Badu’s new single, “Honey,” and has his next solo disc, The Wonder Years, in the works as well. Buckshot has made music for ESPN’s 2008 College Basketball Programming, and he rhymes on the theme song for The History Channel’s “Gangland” Series. A remake of “Who Got The Props” with Lil Wayne will appear on an upcoming Wayne mixtape, as well.
